Brand Shout : Wood Wood

In the "sneaker culture" there are certain brands that come up constantly because of their involvement in the culture. Wood Wood is one such brand. Created in 2002 by three former students of the Royal Design School of Denmark, Wood Wood started as a limited t-shirt label and a store selling sneakers, skateboards, collector toys and art books in Copenhagen. After the success of their private line and shop, the three Danes expanded south to Berlin, opening their unique boutique in the heart of Mitte.

As one of Berlin’s most beloved streetwear stores, Wood Wood signifies urban fashion from Denmark but has branched into a holder of cool kicks and producer of a lot more "runway ready" items. Their Spring/Summer 2010 collection just premiered and I'm definitely feeling the obvious mixture of streetwear and high end(minus the jesus slippers). Check it out and let me know what you think.

Brand Shout : +J Collection by Jil Sander for Uniqlo

Thanks to my good friend Sean who used to work at Uniqlo back when it was a smaller store on Broome Street in SoHo and fresh from Japan, I have know all about the inexpensive quality items that came from the store. It seems however; that in recent years Uniqlo has stepped it up a notch and has began working with bigger name designers. The latest collaboration comes from Jil Sander, know for her minimalist designs and her label by the same name. The +J collection will consist of 40 menswear pieces with nothing costing more than $200. The line will use materials such as cotton poplins, woven wools, and tweeds in a very minimal way, very true to the jil sander aesthetic. I will definitely be checking out this collection when it drops in the fall of this year. Who doesn’t want high fashion for less?.

Domenico "Mimmo" Spano

I'm very interested in the whole street-wear culture. But another aspect of fashion that I will always go back to and be interested in (Thanks to my near decade long subscription to GQ), is classic men's style. The whole tailored look will never go out of style and will always garner respect. In the clip above Domenico "Mimmo" Spano, Saks Fifth Avenue's suiting guru, gives his take on the current state of men's fashion as well as what he thinks are essential to every man's wardrobe. May I also add that Mr. Spano dresses EXACTLY how I want to dress when I get to his age. His style is definitely Cool Table Approved!
