Darcel Dissapoints: I Think I Found The Animated Version Of Myself...

Summer In Ny is Fucked Sculpture
I got introduced to Darcel by reading the blogs and coming across information about his sculpture entitled "Summer in NY is Fucked"...

Summer in Ny is Fucked
At the time i didn't know that it was based on an animation by the same name done by an artist named Craig Redman.

LV Maison London
Vuitton
But then a little while later I saw that Darcel was also going to the new Louis Vuitton Maison London concept store. I thought that was pretty cool but who exactly was this egg shaped black cyclops with the cool glasses on.

I went to Craig Redman's blog where I discovered that Darcel is the star of Craig Redmans animated blog "Darcel Dissapoints" that brings to life everyday trivialities and occurrences.

I began reading through his blog and I realized that Darcel and I (and probably many New Yorkers)have a lot in common. From the small things that bother New Yorkers like waiting for the train to going to visiting exhibits like the one Kaws had at the Gering & Lopez gallery and getting wasted and then feeling the results of it, I'm sure that a lot of New Yorkers can identify with Darcel. I sure do. Check It out and visit the blog for more.

Waiting for the train is fucking boring.

World Cup Fever

I must admit, I am not that big of a football fan, and by football I mean soccer, the most overlooked major sport in the US that is the biggest sport everywhere else. However the World cup is coming up and it seems like many companies that I am familiar with are showing love to the world cup. Maybe the United States is slowly getting ready to accept Soccer as a sport that they actually pay attention to on a large scale. Here are some of the special edition products that different brands have put out specifically for the world cup.

Pearl Nike Air Foamposite Pro 2010 Re-Release

Its been officially confirmed that the Pearl Foamposite Pro is set for a re-release later this year. Although these came out just last year, it was a House of Hoops exclusive release. And even though HOH had somewhere around 700 pairs they went quickly. Luckily this will be more of a general release so all of you who missed out will be able to get a pair this time around. Normally I am not a fan of the big black check on the side of the foamposite but for the Pearls I can make an exception. What do you think about them?

Art on Deck

One of my favorite past times is to take a trip to the museum or a gallery and just look at all types of artwork. It always interest me to find new and appealing art. Sometimes I would love to be able to take some of the art at these galleries how with me however some of these pieces can range well into the millions of dollars. My next best alternative is to find artwork from the artist that will fit into my budget, and believe it or not some of the most relevant artist and photographers of our time have featured their work on skateboard decks. Here's a look at some skateboard decks by a few incredible artist that have caught my attention

Damien Hirst
- Best known for his "For The Love of God" Diamond encrusted scull, "The Physical impossibility of death in the mind of someone living" Tiger shark suspended in formaldehyde and "LSD" series of reoccurring dots. Damian also set the world record for the most expensive piece of artwork ever sold at $198 million

Kaws-
The Brooklyn based graffiti artist best known for his signature "XX" has work with everyone from musicians Pharrell Williams and Kanye Wesst to Kiehls lotion and New York Magazine on special edition products and paintings that can cost well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars

Takashi Murakami-
Japanese born artist who is best known for his sculptures and "Superflat" form of artwork has worked on special edition bags and prints for Louis Vuitton recently had a sold out exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum and also has artwork that cost well into the hundreds of thousands of dollars

Terry Richardson - The NYC based photographer best known for his realism in photography, void of photoshopping or even made up models, his pictures have been used is almost every fashion publication relevant right now.

Marilyn Minter - The NYC based female photographer often uses sexually erotic undertones in her photography that usually has some type of "dirty" feel to the final product. Her work has been used for various high fashion labels.

Jeff Koons - The American artist best known for his giant reproductions of balloon animals made out of steel with mirror finish surfaces set the 2007 record for most expensive piece of artwork for an astonishing $23.6 Million
